Multicultural Arts Center

This award-winning building first opened in October of 1996 in downtown Merced. The first floor contains a theater, the lobby gallery and the Arbor Gallery. The second and third floors house additional gallery space and six visual and performing arts studios.

Playhouse Merced

Playhouse Merced is a cultural fixture in the community, dedicated to creating passionate, ingenious, polished and inspired theatrical events that feature both local and national talent. A Variety of Broadway cannon of Musicals, Pulitzer Prize winning drama’s, conservatory shows with and for children, family friendly fare and an alternate season of four plays engage the mind and the imagination.

Merced Theater

Built in 1931, this Spanish Colonial style theater was one of the first to be connected with the Golden State Theater Circuit. Located at Main Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Merced City College

Merced City College offers a variety of experiences from Music, Vocal, and Theatre performances in addition to the the art gallery on campus.


Merced ShakespeareFest

Founded in 2002 Merced Shakespearefest is dedicated to the joy of performing Shakespeare's plays for the community. Every year in August it brings a fun-filled, family-friendly play of the Bard to the Merced Open Air Theater (MOAT) in Applegate Park. In winter the company performs a more serious classical play at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center.
