Gateway to Yosemite
The Merced River in Yosemite National Park
Visit 1,170 miles of nature’s most awe-inspiring scenery in Yosemite National Park. See Half Dome, El Capitan, Tuolumne Meadows, Bridalveil and Yosemite Falls. Daily tours are available or for the more adventurous, try rock climbing, river rafting, bicycling, or snowshoeing or skiing in the winter.
Visit Yosemite from Merced and retrace the original route along Hwy 140, established in 1926. This was the first route into Yosemite that brought travelers directly to the valley floor along the Merced River Canyon. You’ll have an excellent view of geology in action!
